“Get over yourself” taken to a whole new level.

If you’re anything like me, and my family, you hear this phrase frequently enough.  Usually, it’s the pinned-on tail of the conversation donkey where you were saying something to the effect of “I’m not doing that”  or “I refuse” or any myriad of other things that someone else thinks of as pretentious, or, they simply don’t like being told no.  Hey, sometimes, they might even be right.

That being said, I decided about a month ago, that I’m over myself.  Not, of course, in the common meaning that it’s usually delivered in, but in the sense that I’m over this version of myself.  Call it the pressure of New Year’s (I made no resolutions, by the way), or call it just being over it all, I decided to “get over myself”.

I suffer from hypothyroidism and the host of diagnoses that go along with it: Sleep disorders, fibromyalgia, adrenal fatigue, obesity, chronic fatigue..  I’m sure I’m missing something in that list.  I decided, I’m over it.

I joined Planet Fitness.  They have personal trainers who work with you as often as you like, for as long as you need, and they don’t charge for the personal training.  If you need motivation, that’s the way to go.  Appointments three times a week with the personal trainer.

Planet Fitness has a “booth” called the Total Body Enhancement.  After I learned about it, I started researching it.  There ARE studies done about it, and how red light therapy helps any number of things.  I’ve only had two sessions, but I’m attempting to track how it affects me.  I’m sure I’ll post the results here, as they come in.

The first session, I did after my workout.  I wasn’t nearly as sore as I should have been.  I was still a bit sore.  But I didn’t have the expected knee pain, and I didn’t have the overwhelming fatigue.  You’re supposed to do it prior to your workout.  Oops.

The second session, I did it prior.  Now, afterwards, I was okay, but later that day, I felt like crap.  I think I remember someone posting that it does make you feel like crap when you’re just starting, so maybe that was a factor.  I’ll see, I suppose.

I’m doing the cross training (well, technically they call it something else there, but there are two versions of it, the one on the 360 machine, and the one that’s a circuit training)  which will give me cardio.  I don’t do traditional cardio.  I hate it.  I’ve tried.  I’ve been resolute.  It doesn’t work.  It just never has.  I simply have to find something else or some other way to get around it.  I will do these three times a week.  Potentially back to back.

That’s it, I’m over it.  I will post updates about the TBE (red light  therapy), and I am already losing weight, although, it’s due to the thyroid meds, and not to my dedication to exercise, but I suspect that I will lose more soon.  I didn’t consider the fact that I’ll need more clothing, however.  Go figure.  Oh well, I was going to have to buy more anyway.
